Just got back from seeing the eclipse in South Carolina. Definitely worth it!

I also want to say thanks to everybody who came to SELEM and all the organizers. I had an fantastic time.
And perhaps next year my single-mode projector that I'm building will be complete and I can actually have something to show off at SELEM.

Hey Chris, what do you think about an official DJI Mavic Pro for $800 -- a "DJI Official Refurbish"? Besides the Nanuk case for $110, what other accessories are needed?

What's the status of the "Pro II" version?

    thanks.

    Hank,
You will need an SD card, at least 1 spare battery, and I upgraded the charger to one like this. It charges more than 1 at a time and is faster:

Here is the case I have:

Don't know anything about the Nanuk cases, but it looks like a Pelican case which are the best in my opinion.

I'm also using the Nvidia Shield K1 instead of my phone. It requires minor mods to the flight transmitter in order for it to fit and a longer USB cable than the one that comes with the Mavic.

This isn't everything but a nice deal and new not refurbished.

Don't know anything about the new Pro II sorry.

Hope this helps. PM if you need more help. I don't want to hijack the thread.
    Chris

It's only taken me about a year to get these videos off my phone and uploaded to youtube... but here are the videos I took of the orchestra+laser show in Newton on Sunday night.

Credit goes to Swamidog who set up most the queues, but wasn't there to execute them.

I think it was SaltyRobot who was running the console for everything else.

I haven't yet actually watched any of these yet, so I can't speak to the quality or talent of the videographer.

Mu initial reaction is... we need a ton more haze this year. And I think a couple of the "smoke sausages" idea from the UKLEM is paramount.

I think there was enough breeze to keep the fog away.

Yes. I even was sending pics and texting real time with buffo when I saw it. Basically you're blowing a fog machine into a commercial fan like they use for inflatable moon bouncers but, rather than a moon bouncer, what's connected is about a 50' clear polyethylene tube that's about 10" in diameter. You make some random slits along the top of the tube along it's entire length and you have a movable, "wall" of fog that you can reposition or curve and snake around objects. Sort of like how a water screen works but rather than have water streaming down, you've got fog blowing up.

This is something I would like to see in person. Sounds very interesting.

Thanks for posting the videos, Hank!

Brad, I agree - we need more fog. *Lots* more fog! The fog-tube idea from UKLEM is a good one. We'll have to see what we can come up with. Any idea on where to get the material to make the tube(s)?

I'll look into it. Shouldn't be hard... I just haven't spent the time to look yet.
