That was probably the laser used for experimental laser isotope separation of uranium at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory? The project has since been discontinued. I work with several of the guys who kept that laser running.
Have a good day!

i love how the hardware gives it that victorian era feel.

we had a pulslight green monster before we traded it in on the yellow raptor.
that thing had something like a 14mm beam but...
Wes, what is your opinion of the Pulslights? I kinda feel the urge to get someyhing silly. Looking at their prices, it would make sense just to buy the head and sort out my own scanners & optics for it. Thoughts appreciated.

i love it!

the difference in the texture of the light compared to dpss is enjoyable.
i want to say it has more depth somehow and at the same time seems translucent without being washed out.
we run pango with live pro.that combined with the three colors and what you get from transition(the full beam lime green looks yellow gold when the colors cycle together and the orange is pumpkinlike),puts us heads above the other players in this town that thinks it is a city
the deep green is frickin luscious verging toward/hinting at aqua.
it warms up fast and we just use a transformer plugged into a 20 amp 110/115 wall circuit to get our 220v.
you may know but the cubr has the copper embedded in the tube so no need to run it to prevent gas cleanup.
we have a little alignment problem now after three years but it really doesn't affect our show.
you know, the things that only we would see.
overall i would say it is dreamy especially with the pango

edit.your'e a lot closer to bulgaria too so you'll save bucks,'scuse, pounds,on shipping.
peace,
wes

also, and i don't understand this in a hands on way,the tube is fitted with the(head?) and prealigned.
last i checked replacement tubes were $1000 us.(for the three watt)

Why go with the Raptor as opposed to building your own system from a bare head? It seems like you are paying $9K for the scanners and colour changers. Which seems a bit steep.

we got a nice deal on it and i am nowhere near competent yet to do a build like that.

where i really spent unwisely was on the beambox i bought from lumalaser.

their way of labeling power ratings is misleading.
the box they sell for non varianced use is called a 5mw system but has a 4.9 green and a 4.9 red.
however what they sell as a 50mw system is made up of two 25mw lasers.
by that logic the 5mw system should be called a 10mw or the 50mw system should be called a 25mw system.
oh well, that was a long time ago and i've had lots of good shows w/ the beambox.
once at a warehouse party we lost our two larger lasers.
the green monster just died and keith's brand new 250mw head did too.
i ended up using the beambox (at a blazing 25mw as the red laser burnt out just weeks after purchase) and set up a 9 mirror array 50' wide on the back wall.
we had a df50 going and i amazed myself at the result we got.
i'm upgrading the beambox now with a 100mw cni532 and will submit a request to the cdrh to add it to our variance.
i'm going to run the modulation off the lumalaser board.
i'm hoping that satisfies the feds but if not i'll have to put a shutter in i guess.
we'll see.
peace,
wes
edit.actually, with the 25mw beam hitting four mirrors, one dichro and three regulsr fs,it would lose at least seventeen%.
it's amazing what a good hazer can do.
