    marconi,thank you.
i have measured the supply from the lumalaser board 30 times or so.
it is running 4.78v to 4.88v with only one reading of 4.93v and one of 4.9v.
these higher readings came just after turning on the power and dropped after the circuit was on a few seconds.
from what you say, this should fit well with the 5.1v zener and i will place that on the mod circuit.
i will be sure to turn this circuit on and let it sit before i turn on my driver.
i have the cni labstyle integrated supply/driver so,as buffo said"i'll just have to trust they know what they are doing"and have protection between the supply and driver
i don't imagine they would keep selling as many of the units as dave says they do,if they blew up the lasers

i haven't viewed laser light for over a month and i just viewed the new cni so i'm in a state of ecstasy and will"step away from the keyboard" now.
i really appreciate the help given buy folks here on this forum
    thanks,
    wes

    Hi Wes
Sounds like you made a good purchase. Dave and aijii are great guys
and have a top notch reputation. You did good.

The integrated supply/driver shouldnt have any problems with power input.
all you need is one for the modulation line.
Well, you may not really need it, just for piece-of-mind.

Sounds like your on your way for more fun in laser-land
Yeah, Its hard to walk away from , very addicting.
