    Default G120D Galvo Amp (Driver)

    Hello All,

These days it is possible to get G120D galvos for good price I think.
I have got pair of these few years ago and wanted to build
my own driver for it, becasue my budget for lasershow was(is) limited
I think I was quite successful

Results can be seen on my web: www.technoroam.sk/lasershow

Has anybody skills in building galvo amps for G120D ?

    Best Regards

    pishtak

    Default Update1

    Hello there,

Some friends in Germany reproduced "my" design.
They achieved even a bit better speed than me.

Almost 12 driver pairs are being built now by other "freaks" :-)

Details in german language are here:

    http://www.laserfreak.net/forum/view...37470&start=50

    ildatestb.ild runs @ 40degress at 30-35Kpps
(depending on how "good" are the galvos :-)

    regards

    Default Update

    hello,

here is update to G120Amp. there are some improvements available.
at the moment not fully tested, but i hope i'll have some time to test it soon.
most important is to test functionality of h-bridge.

    improvements:
    - high frequency damping removed (i think it is not necessary for G120 galvos)
    - input stage is simpler
    - pre-emphasis is moved to input
    - output stage modified to h-bridge (two power opamps are now necessary)
    - part count is reduced (one quad opamp removed)
    - external shutdown implemented
    - jumper to open the loop (setting/tunning without soldering/desoldering)
    - postion signal is buffered (U7D)

G120Amp should be now faster :-)
Big thanks to mixedgas who provided idea about how to implement h-bridge.
It is so simple and usually one overlooks such easy solution even
you have it before your eyes (modified howland current source plus inverting amp)

PS: looking for at least 2pcs G120 galvos in very good condition. long
time ago finalphase2 at ebay was selling plenty of them for very good
price (G120 with thermal blanket and RJ45 connector = G120ST).
best would be to get 4pcs of these :-)

    Best Regards

nice, you going to offer boards?

have some G120's I would love to use but have miniSAX amps (aka crap)

also where did you get those mounts for the G120's?

as i'll let produce new boards for myself (min 4pcs), i can probably order more pieces
if somebody is interested. first of all i need to test it.

which mounts do you mean ? mirror mounts or galvo mounts ?

I would be interested in a set of boards if they are reasonably priced?

    Flecom,

Those mounts look like holders for CNC rails.

Something like this... (these are available in different sizes and configurations)
You can also make them yourself... shouldn't be to hard.

    galvo mounts are home/hand made.
if i'll be supplying PCBs, these will be unassembled (only raw pcb).

    price will depend on demand.
i'll wait for feedback here and also on laserfreak
