    Default Ilda plugs

    Hi guys.
    simple question.
    is the laser ilda connection plugs and sockets the same as the old style parallel printer cable?

    Yes, that's right. Standard DB25.

    ...but the IDLA DB-25 and the parallel printer DB-25 are not wired the same.

    We used to use printer switches with ILDA cables in the late 90s...

    Some of them work, but not all pins may be supported on others..

    The thing to pay attention to is whether the printer switch DB25 has pins 18-24 tied to pin 25 (GND). Some parallel port switch boxes had pins 18-25 all soldered together with a short length of buss wire. If pins 18-24 are all independently wired pins and not wired internally to pin 25 (GND) then they should work fine. But if you are not using balanced lines for XY and blanking then these DB25 switches may also work using unbalanced lines for these laser signals (assuming you are limiting the signal polarity quadrant to be used or compensating for this).
