Default Been offered a LASER PRINT 1000 OMNICHROME

    Hi guys.
I've been offered a laser print 1000 omnichrome.

i understand it’s a forensic laser but has a good powered argon laser inside.
before I bite off more I can chew here.
if I plug it in does it give out a nice argon beam or is this thing different?
i just want to stick a set of galvos on it.
    Any tips would be great

Its an Omnichrome Multimode, Multiline, Ion laser with a large fiber optic bundle in the old version, and an arc lamp (no laser) with fiber bundle in the newer version. Depending on the older model it may be set up to run in short bursts to keep the plasma tube cooled in such a tight package. A precious few were made a with a multi-watt green DPSS. You will need to remove the fiber bundle and focusing lenses.

A check with a friend says the laser version has a model 532-MA-A04, which is a 200 mW, all lines, air cooled argon.
Keep the tube current turned down and it will last a long time. You can bet it was pushed hard if forensics personnel were using it. (Morrrr Power!)

Be careful, that much light is dangerous.
