Question fly's eye lens in front of an RGB laser projector?

    Greetings,

Can someone recommend an external lens/diffuser that can split the beam output from an RGB laser projector into 50 to 100 beams? I believe these are called fly's eye lenses, but I'm not sure if a different type of optics would be necessary for an RGB laser. I'm hoping to be able to split/replicate a single white beam from the projector to avoid the flicker of using the scanners to create many beams.

    Thanks,

    laserism

    Diffraction grating

You probably want the Burst, or Linear.

thank you! will the white beam be altered chromatically with those?

Yes, your beam will be split into its individual wavelengths when you project through it.

As others have mentioned, a "burst" or "grid" diffraction grating will accomplish the effect you're describing.

Here's what it will look like:

For a quick test, you can try the cheap holographic film that they put into those "fireworks laser viewer" novelty glasses that you see for sale on E-bay. Good for a watt or two of power, at least for short exposures. (That's what was used for this picture, although the power level here is only ~ 30 mw.)
