Default color filters (not dichro mirrors)

What off-the-shelf can I use as a red, green or blue filter? This is not for laser light source and the light is weak so an absorbing filter can be any material as long as it can filter out specific wavelength ranges. What can I use? Preferrably as a film, or thin plasic sheet (

It sounds like you need a simple gel sheet. You can get a gel swatch book for a few dollars here and pick out the filter appropriate for your needs. Most of the filters swatches include graphs of what regions of the spectrum they allow through. Depending on your needs, you can then purchase a gel sheet or simply use the swatch if you only need a small piece.

I dont know about that one particularly, but all the gel filters for camera flashe's I've had were highly diffuse. You couldn't see your finger few inches away from the filter. I realize I hadn't specified this requirement, sorry about that.

right.. you don't want camera flash gels, you want theatrical lighting gels.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

But, but . . that’s what I posted for 1/3 of the price, no?

That said, they probably have glass filters somewhere that would have even less ‘diffusion’.

There are stage. Light filters that are glass but they are expensive and thick. Apollo makes them. Buy the gel swatch book. It is what you want.

Thanks to all. Funny enough it seems camera flash gels which are the only gels I had are the only ones deliberately also diffusers.

I stand corrected. As I recall, when I purchased mine years back, I bought something like 2 of each of the possible options, so the minimum shipping charge didn't seem that high.
