    Is it the pump diode that wears out on them really?

    Not really with a good driver.
    Very bad drivers, or purposely overdriving them = pump diode failure / shorter life... but then you have yourself to blame for that.

    "Natural causes" = tend to be LBO failure. Mostly due to moisture, or other degradation.

    The OPS chips are quite reliable.

    That has to be 100k of lasers. To have set of rgby of those would be really out of this world. End my building forever.

    An new LBO shouldn't set you back that much comparatively.. im still amazed how come no other company has went on to rival the OPSL product line of coherent or made some kind of aftermarket product in regards to it.
    I would love to see some competition in that area to drive prices around.
