Default some polarizer and LCD questions

    1. Is it correct to assume that if a light is already polarized one of the polarizers on the LCD shutter itself is not required to be present to selectively block it?

    2. Is it correct to assume that if one of the polarizers from an LCD shutters is removed, then it can be used to always pass light of one polarization but to selectively (not always) block light of the opposite polarization?

    1. Yes, but if the light source is not a point source at infinity, the contrast of the image passed will be low. LCDs like collimated light. The polarizer on the input face properly orients the polarization of the skew rays.

    2. True whether removing the input polarizer or not. Not true if removing the output side polarizer.
