DT50 anyone tested them?

I'm shortly buying some more projectors which come with DT40.
It's not too much to 'upgrade' to DT50, which also seem to come with a better size set of mirrors too.
Wondered if anyone has used them, and what you think of them.
I also notice that DragonTiger are now using a single dual channel amp, rather than the old separate ones. Seems more space efficient at the very least, and quite desirable in the these days of smaller and smaller projectors.

I have a couple of them. They are good for bigger beams. Big mirrors, plenty fast. I wish they had the DT50s in a package that supports smaller mirrors for a 5x5mm beam. As is, I believe the mirrors can fit 7mm+ beam. Because of the size of the mirrors, I notice some oscillation in the ilda pattern on the line through the circle/square. Of course, I retuned for 30K at a large scan angle so I am sure that has a lot to do with it. Out of the box, they are tuned for 50K @ 8

The galvos are pretty small and the driver is a very well made, multilayer PCB which was impressive. From what I found out from Jian, the driver was manufactured for DT by JMLaser. The footprint is pretty small.

Overall, the price was right and I am pretty happy with the. For my needs, I wish they had smaller mirrors and mounts that would accommodate the decreased mirrors size. I bet they would blaze with smaller mirrors.

Keep in mind, you'll need a PSU for these as they don't come with one. They require at least a 3amp PSU.

I have 2 complete new 50BB scanner set laying here, I invested in the new EMS8000 Digi before i get them tested. So if any one can use them. Please let me know and we find a good price.

Hmm, interesting, as I'm fairly sure that the DT40 7mm mirrors will clip a 5mm square beam once they start deflecting.
The point of the 8mm mirrors was so that they didn't clip at wider angles.

I'm sure Bill has a Solidworks diagram that demonstrates this. There was a lot of info about it in this thread but I haven't managed to trawl it yet...

That's why I was thinking of the DT50, because they had the larger mirror set, not in spite of it.

Basically, to move a beam 30 degrees from centre, the mirror needs to be 2* the width of the incoming beam. So a 5mm beam needs to have a 10mm mirror.
8mm is still too small, but a better option than 7mm undoubtedly.

i would like to test them.. i hope someone going to dutchlem owns a set or a projector with a set.. then I can do non destructive tests on them and get some answers where this galvo sits in terms of performance

My thing is, I have a sub 5mm beam and would love to see a set of thesr with a smaller mirror setup. That's what I had meant. I would think they could easily hit 60k @ 8°. So, good scanners and good driver, but even the standard set is made for big beams. Even still, they keep up with my dt40s for the angle and speed I have them tuned to.

Yeah, the spec sheet seems to indicate they give slightly better performance than the DT40, but with the bigger mirror set.
I'll probably go with those for the small extra it'll cost over the DT40

Went with the DT50 Wides in the end as it'll be a purely big indoor/outdoor beam projectors...
Will be interesting to see how they do when they arrive.
