Just came across this very short video from the early 1960s about an experiment in dye production, and it shows the first commercial laser (the Raytheon LH-1) in operation. Gotta look quick though. It's only on screen for a few seconds 9 seconds in.

That's old school right there. Fascinating. I wish more footage was available from those times.
