at the UK lem grinder and I spent about 3 hours working out how to get a freespace laser down a fibre, which was great. But the problem was we kept gettingan error on the wavemeter phase lock error.
After some headscratching we noticed the magnet in the middle of the coil was hitting the sideof the plastic coil case, so we adjusted. But still phase lock error, then wenoticed the coil had come away from its mount, so was moving. We glued back inplace, but still a phase lock error.
It appeared thewavemeter had had a rouge time with its problem glass and magnet and coilissues.
The manual saysthe moving part should move approx 9mm, after using a mobile phones 960fpsslowmo we noted it was moving more 12mm.

After a fewhours of adjusting the movement sensors we got the movement down to approx 10mmand amazingly the phase lock error went. I was then able to calibrate thewavemeter and its now working.

That was a fun little fault finding session Andy; did you manage to fire another known wavelength into the fibre and get a sensible reading?
