Default SELEM 2019 first time attendee - looking for tips/suggestions

    Hi y'all.

I hope to attend SELEM this year and as a 1st timer I'd appreciate any travel tips for best air-fair pricing, airport to fly into to gain best air-fair, etc., sharing rides to/from Holiday Inn to event auditorium and anything else you can think of as I'm coming in from Colorado, leaving out of Denver International. I'm already booked into the Holiday Inn, next need to get my air travel reservations.

    Thanks

Getting from the HI to the venue is easy. Almost everyone stays there. We usually meet up at breakfast a just ride with someone. I have never had a problem with that.

Getting to Newton....I either drive or fly my Cessna. Can't help with that sorry.

This is a life changing event that you will come back to every year. SELEM can't be explained it must be experienced.

FYI I make and give out the name tags & shirts as well as get you to sign the release form. See you there.

This process has gone smoothly since I started attending ~7 years ago. We really appreciate it, Chris!

Thanks Chris, I appreciate your "giving" nature.

One thing to think about that I pointed out to a newbie yesterday is that Newton, NC in August is hot and humid. And as such, everyone runs their air conditioning on max. Therefore it is an exercise in changing cloths. You'll sweat through a couple shirts and then freeze your ass off in the auditorium and restaurants so you kind of need to be prepared with shorts and hoodies. It can be overcast and rainy and bright and sunny in a 15 minute period so pack accordingly.

If you can , take the LSO course/
Take lots of pic/vids but protect your camera.

While there begin your plans to come back in 2020 as you WILL
    want to....
& don't forget to be there for the Doorprizes--you must be 'present' to win.
    see you at SELEM 2020
Or sooner if you can come to DFWTEXLEM in Oct 2019

    Hey guys,

I am looking forward very much meeting y'all. I am counting down the days to SELEM ;-)
Also cool i hopefully will be meeting Telemonster again who i met years ago on a hackercamp in Europe!
Flying in on Tuesday 6th to Charlotte International Airport from NY on a Bombardier 900 (never been in a plane with just 60 seats...), arriving at 15.32 (eh i believe that is 3.32PM called in the States ;-) on Delta Airlines DL5351 from NY ;-)
Have a rental car if other people arrive around that time and need transport i can bring you guys to Hotel / SELEM. Just let me know...
Leaving monday evening want to return the car around 4 max 5PM. If people need transport then , i can accomodate to CLT airport.

I will probably just be bringing my laptop plus FB3 as to not having to lug stuff around on my few days of NY before, so travelling light...
Just some questions for people local/known around Newton:
Are there any outlet shopping centres so i can buy some stuff (Nike shoes, Jeans, shirts...) Just some stuff to have an After-Selem-Feeling ("I bought this during Selem 2019!")...
Does the local supermarket sell the M&Ms Caramel edition (the blue bags with orange letters caramel), i love those and want to bring some home...

Well hope to see you all soon... as said... i am hyped up like an energizer bunny!

    Any tips, tricks ?

    Kind regards,
    Dimitri "Hobbybob" Modderman
