I have a Taz 6, a Taz Mini, and a Moai SLA printer. The most complex work I have done on mine is printing the parts for my fogscreen. Sadly, I never use my SLA printer. Too messy and I really don't need that kind of detail. I only got it because I got in on the Kickstarter pretty early and got it for a great price. I also like that my Moai can use just about anyone's resin. It just sucks that I don't use it.
If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room.

... if for detail -- my first FDM setup used a nozzle with 0,8mm bore ... the first DLP-resin printer was capable of 0,01mm in XY and Z

But for "serious" microfabrication (laser-ablating, removing 200nm material per pulse) I've used an excimer laser with sub-micrometer resolution

Not that I'm aware of, but it's an interesting idea! Need to use a clear material though, which I think will rule out any of the FDM units. (I've never seen clear filament.) But I think you could use an SLA printer, assuming you could source some resin that stayed clear when it cured...

Hehe... Chips, lots of smoke, and dull tools, right?

Oh yeah, and lots of swearing!

At least you can get that far. I've never actually used a lathe myself, but I've watched the process enough to know that I'd probably injure myself if I ever got the mind to try...

There was blood! I really stink at it. No patience.

I have optical clear resin from form labs. Works well but you have to spend a lot of time polishing. I'd rather cnc plexi and then spend the time polishing that if forced.

... you can try with melting/fusing plexi spheres or polymer fibers -- then eventual "flame-polishing" to make the back surface more transparent again ...

... does the solvent not soak into the material?

When "vapor-polishing" ABS with Acetone you have to temper and vent it for some weeks, until it's "original" ABS again

I have only used it for plexi and no it doesn't soak in. It is also just a quick shot at the surface. not a 20 min soak. frankly I do better by hand.

Default Anycubic Mega S 3D Printer

    I got my printer mid-January 2020... https://www.anycubic.com/collections...ubic-i3-mega-s
Been printing steadily ever since! Couple filament tube blockages...few nozzle replacements (both cheap and easy fixes).

One of my favorite features is Resume Print after Power Loss. This allows me to shut power off at bedtlme, (via alexa and smart switch), per wife's request, and select file and resume print next morn...

Birthday coming up and, honestly, would just like another of the same type of printer!

Love www.thingiverse.com as a print file source as I am learning to create my own.

Have the formlabs form 2 as well!
Let me know if you need a cartridge hack as it will save you a lot of money! (and allows for third party resins)

also have a prusa mk2s and a self build i3
