Could it be the pendulums are of differing lengths so each is swinging at a slightly lagging or leading period to the next?

The Hermit; Pendulums of the same length swing at the same frequency.
Perspective, literally, visual perspective is the key here. Greg is correct. Each pendulum is on a graduating smaller length, front to back. Look closely at the start of the video, the long wooden board strip is not level...because of the different pendulum lengths, longer in front, shorter in the back, it has to be at a slant to touch and hold each ball back on their left side.

The balls in the background swing at a faster rate than the ones in front, but as the swing period of each ball decays the phenomena of 3D cycloids are revealed.

Brian, among the materials I received from you there is a big heavy oddly shaped but symmetrical metal thing that I'm guessing is a dual polarity power supply of some kind. Do you remember any details about what that is and what it is for?

Not sure what that is, but I have a bunch of hardware that fits that description that I've accumulated over the years...

FYI, this is also an exhibit at the Exploratorium, if any of you want to see it in real life... We call it "Pendulum Snake".

Hey, I'm always up for a weekend call with anyone here to chat about lasers, the universe, and everything. Steve, email or pm me a number and time, and I'll place the call on my dime.

Roj: I've noticed this site has been intermittent lately, however I believe one of the elders here makes PL possible exclusively through their generosity. Being the owner of a boring little subscription service myself, I know what a pain in the neck it is to take time away from life for site maintenance, so I've learned to be reticent about requesting anything that may require admin attention.

swamidog: It would be a noble experiment to meet, perhaps at SALEM one of these years, if time doesn't grow too old too fast, and perform a live show with you on radiator as an image source to the 3D 6B emulator. Maybe with a multi player lumia jam. Dreams...

Kevint: Hey, sorry man. I'll send you my wiring diagrams for the ramp generator, I know you'll love that circuit. It's so simple and so perfect. As some here are rightfully saying though, let's keep the technical details away from the vultures.

Add snakeloids to the photon lexicon.

Here's a couple of photos of the dual polarity 24V PS I got from Brian. Its heavy and professional looking. Was this in a 6b? I'm guessing other than general usefulness, it's likely function would be to power the lamps in a 6b panel, or perhaps power scan amps.

Another couple of photos show an obvious problem two of my four Pangolin projectors developed shortly after warranty. I'm not asking for advice from experts here though. Aaron is knowledgeable and helpful.

I have a 52 min. laser show ready to promote. I'm thinking of calling it Classic Laser Shows and just leave the story as an old laser show collection found in a crate of tapes from last century. I hope it's a clever set list that, in lieu of lumia, diffractive optics, laser clouds, background effects, and scrimmage lines, maintains an acceptable arc of interest through the uniting of historical styles of shows from the all analog early years to the sage era and beyond. Here is part of a much appreciated recent comment from a living laser legend to whom anyone who enjoys innovating with lasers owes much. Regarding independently computed real time per channel 3D: Hi Greg, I applaud your accomplishment, something we couldn't manage to complete (the Millennium project as it was called) at LII.

Regarding small steps toward getting a venue, I had a successful albeit small show last weekend that sold tickets and made money both for me and the venue, but it was a live concert for kids, nothing to do with lasers. But somehow word got around that a laser show was to follow. I of course didn't bring a laser show. My show made everyone happy, but three people gave feedback to the venue that they were disappointed that there wasn't a laser show. That sounds like good news to me.

Default Beefy PSU Greg posted and more

That is a monster. 720+ Watts on the mains! That dual supply would drive almost anything and everything but the laser exciter. Nice photos. They must be linear dc supplies. Are they?

That people were hoping for some laser is indeed nice positive feedback. It sounds like your audience is already standing in line in their minds.

Best wishes on your Classic Laser Show Revival success. (hint, hint)

lasermaster1977: Good hint. I'll consider that. I'm not sure about the linear DC supplies but yes, probably, given the weight.

Roj: You are right, I should speak of no one's indebtedness but my own. Please chalk my comment up as hyperbole. The gentleman from whom I received the quoted communication is one of the renowned choreographers who directed the production of many of the older shows including Starship, and who also was a member of the team that developed the sage system. All the Laserium people I have spoken with who are not already here on PL have indicated that they would prefer not to be named in these forums, though all have been wonderful for sharing their time and knowledge.
