    ... hmmm ... could be, this was me too -- 'got some broken fiberlasers with "exploded" optical setup, but still functional pumping diodes - here some of them in the 3rd image:

    Wow, that thing really vaporised the fibers!
    But no, it was this picture, i don't think he is in the forum now. and it was six racks of 56 30W lasers each!

    ... ah, OK - now I remember him too -- he asked me for "common" prices, and if I would be interested in the diodes.

    I have some of the wrecked fiberlasers with mostly 9Watt-diodes and some with 25 or 30Watts - all with an attached 105µm fiber ... located in Germany ...

    FYI - attached the image of an opened "25W-diode", which is essentially assembled/averaged with three 9Watt-diodes

    I will let you know if I find some interesting ones! I will finish this one first and maybe try another project with a 30W one for an engraver later!

    Wow thats a lot of damage. Wonder if it would be worth putting the fibers in a secondary jacket to catch all the combustion products. Thinking a larger diameter soft copper tube like refrigeration tube. You could the add a pressure escape outside the box through a cotton filter. Now if it goes the gas gets out the particles get trapped and the rest of the laser stays safe.

    seems a lot of work for something so uncommon. Can a feedback system react fast enough so it the output of the fiber stops the diode is shut off? Simple AND gate. Signal from feedback signal from cutter. If both you get light if only one nothing. But guess if the system was fast enough it would never start emitting!

    ... if for the exploded fiberlasers -- this are mostly CW-fiberlasers without Faraday-isolator in the kollimator head - here, with too much back-reflection, some or all of the fiber couplers may overheat within Nanoseconds!

    Had two occasions with two of my CW-fiberlasers, where they stopped for detected back-reflection "above 10%" ... if its more and they didn't stop fast enough, then too "BANG-BANG!!" ... and I'll have some more of the pumping diodes in my bin

    Have you hacked the back reflector detectors on some of the diodes to use the signals in your own builds?

    Oh, I want to ask a few questions about the feedback sensors inside the unit!
    There are a semi reflective glass plate and two sensors, there was a small glass cube loose inside the unit when I got it and it is frosted on all sides so I suspect it is a filter to not damage the sensors.
    One sensor is right at the side of the focus optics and one is pointed at the glass plate, is one a back reflection sensor and one a control loop sensor you think?

    ... this should be control/loop sensors -- don't know any system fast enough to prevent overpowering with back reflection.

    The "Faraday-isolator" in the kollimator heads of the pulsed fiberlasers works "passive" - it's a nonlinear crystal in a strong magentic field, which is changing the polarisation of the emitting beam, so the evetually reflected beam wont run havoc inside the laser, but reflected to the side on a beam-trap target ...
