Default Any Cambridge 6800HP Galvo Gurus out there?

I have a set of 6800hp's that came in a projector I purchased. The laser was dead which I diagnosed as a bad 12V power supply. The 300vdc to 12Vdc converter in the Viasho PS was dead. I fixed that and have a beautiful bright green beam now.

Now it seems as if the scan set has a problem as well. The X scanner looks like its spinning in circles. It could just be an illusion but that is what it looks like. I plugged the Y scanner into the X driver output and it seemed to work fine.

So I am assuming the X scanner is dead.

Is there anyone with knowledge of the 6800hp's on here that I can send the scanners and drivers to that will test them out for me?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kevin

Honestly you can buy a brand new set of scanners with drivers for the price of a replacement scanner. I favor 506 compacts from pangolin but the cheaper pt40 Chinese knock offs will work as well as the 6800.

you could try tuning the driver. Maybe there is an oscillation or the filter board is missing. I do not think there is a torsion bar in those to stop it from spinning.

I'll write it up this evening after "work from home" is done.
I still repair 6800 series Amplifiers from time to time.
Spinning is highly unlikely unless the stops were removed and the sensor flag on the shaft is broken.
Oscillation is likely if the previous owner messed with the tuning or the wiring is messed up.
There are some checks you can do with the system off , and some checks with drive disabled on the amplifier. I'll take a picture later.

Off to the basement with a camera.

Kevin, do you have a voltmeter or oscilloscope? Who made the amplifiers, what model?

    I have a DMM .

No Oscope. Although I might have access to one.

I am taking pics of the drivers right now I will upload them shortly.

Each one has only 3 trim pots labeled

I just did a little checking. With no power I can spin the x mirror around in circles all day long by hand. The Y galvo has a definite stop left to right when rotated.

Ok so I have a second projector that is the same but RGB with a weak blue. I haven't dug into it yet. But I know that the scan set works and is the same. So I swapped out the scanner block into the Green one and everything works as it should.

So it looks like my X Galvo in the green projector is dead.

Can the X galvo be repaired?

Any one have a 6800HP with a X mirror on it for sale?

How do I remove the old mirror from the X Galvo if I have to re-use it or , does anyone sell a X mirror for a 6800hp anymore ?

    Sorry for all the questions.

Steve if you end up posting on setting up / testing the 6800 I will definitely use it! The more knowledge the better. I appreciate all your help!

Next I am going to need help with the Neos PCAOM in the RGB projector. I have no clue how to set that up. They use it for blanking on the blue output.

Ok so I decided to take the scan apart. Pretty straight forward. I took the 4 small screws off the back and the cover came off.

The flag fell out. there was a little notch out of it where it was glued. The notch piece was still stuck in the end of the shaft.

I carefully picked it out of the shaft , flipped the flag upside down and epoxied it back on.

Not sure if it is going to work again or not but thought I would try.

The glue is drying right now.

in the process I pulled the 2 hair like copper wires off the pcb by accident.

Pretty sure I can solder them back on as they look like they are long enough still.
