If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Hi Rob, Yes, I am getting quite exited! Though it is difficult to explain to people why I should be doing this sort of thing at my age! I was just hooked the first time I saw holograms in the early 70's, and those big old gas lasers needed to make them. I was just telling my son last night, how when I made some mains powered sound to light units (probably about 1970), a local disco was keen to hire them - they were really novel then! See you next Sunday, David.

    Ooo, David...

Are you into holograms then? I love making them, in fact that's the reason I got into projectors, I just needed a bigger photon fix I still love making holograms though, i'm currently experimenting with fiber optics for delivery of reference and object beams - great fun!

Sounds like you're probably about the same age as me (well, mentally anyway )

Looking forward to seeing you at the meet - isn't it exciting

Hi Jem, Never actually tried making one! I bought one (Tutenkarmen head) for one of my brothers wedding present - I dont think they quite knew what to make of it! All I know is that it was very expensive! Look forward to meting you, David

Talking of heads - here is a helmet I made for my son(20!) this Christmas. It is a Boba Fet helmet made entirely form cardboard (apart from visor and part of swing down display). Not my design, got from Instuctables, but quite pleased with result. Display lights up red and deep blue when you lower it.David

    Dont get me started. lol
This reminds me of a laser project i started. an 8ft tall replica darlick that is remote control comes on stage half way through the night, starts of with the old faithfull exterminate. followed by a a massive laser show. From the head, with a piviting head for the ultimate wide angle scan.
Got as far as 4ft,with all the remote controls working. running on a ups system for the 1st 5-10mins. It did wreck an interior door and a put a big dent in a washing machine on test, just teathing problems though.
But then ran out of dexolin to build it. then had to move house, now its in the garage with no space to finish build lol.
    maybe one day.....
