    Default Green Laser Projector

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and am looking for some help on a laser projector project.

I am an artist with a background in computer science based in NYC and need a laser projector to project vector patterns onto a work table to trace. Since the projector is just for transferring patterns, it can have one color laser. Iíll be using James Lehmanís Laserboy software and DAC to get my files ready for a laser projector. I donít need or want a powerfully bright laser beam. Ideally the work surface with projected image will be comfortable to look at for extended periods of time.

Iím looking to spend up to 1500 on a laser projector with the following specs
    -DPSS Green Laser
    -Good pair of scanners
-Room for blue and green lasers to be added later!
    -ILDA

If anyone has any ideas for a laser projector for this project or can point me in the direction of a fabricator I'd really appreciate it!

You probably want a green diode laser rather than a DPSS. They modulate better and they are much simpler and less to go wrong. They also provide a truer green that mixes better with the red and blue you'll get later.

I think what she needs is a nice aluminum plate with a good pair of scanners and a green diode pointed into them, an easy to add-to wire system with a DB25 port, a place to mount power supplies, scanner amps, etc... and room on the plate to add dichro mounts and red and blue lasers later. It might be nice to drill and tap the plate for all the parts so she could add them later without having to do that. I told her she might get some help here. I can't do it because I have no access to my shop and won't for quite some time. My house caught on fire and I'm living in a rental.

Technological Artisans is down the street, so to speak. Call John at TAI and ask for a 5 mW projector with better grade galvos for precision.
Last time I was there he had a stock of 5 mW green dpss for special applications for this, with a sharp, clean, circular DPSS green beam.
Diode beams can be an oddball shape and have an effect on tracing.

That's a good place to check out. John's a good guy. He uses a LaserBoy DAC too!

Good to know about TAI, I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for the helpful information!
