I seem to remember from working on Lithuanian lasers that there was European / Russian NPN starting with BU part number from TV Horizontal Output that was even more capable then 2N6259. I know Sam changed the design to 2N3055, but that is not a great NPN in terms of C-E voltage, Vce0, 60V for 2n3055 against 250v for 2N6259. The idea is to never have more then 20-30 volts across the passbank transistors when the tube is lit. If that occurs, change transformer turns etc. Ideal situation is around 8-10 volts. At low currents the voltage across the passbank will be high. We always try to start the laser plasma at medium or high current to protect the transistors from start-pulse.

Eheheh, i become first in the class? XD

And I mixed the idea from the ignition terminator from the boards you showed, but to use a manual pulse ignition like a series style ignition used in the soviet solid state lasers:

The manual switching let the cap with HV via ignition transformer go through the tube once to have a proper ionization.

    What do you think, master?

Why switch to a series injection ignitor? That is a lot of extra engineering to find a core with correct magnetic properties. Is existing ignitor dead?

Usually SII needs big, fast, SCR or spark gap to achieve clean ignition. As well as extra boost voltage and often resonating capacitor on it's secondary. This is not Innova 300 or big monster from JSC Plasma. As much as I love series injection, it is overkill on a small Argon.

In any case it's a good news, cuz less work over the board and parts.

Does the laser text have a name? Looks interesting. While my Russian is just a few words, I'd like to look at the graphs and pictures..
