    Default Old Beam Shot

Here's a pic from January 3, 1978 showing someone I believe to be John Wolff of Showco and Holoco fame adjusting the mirror sending a beam from the roof of the Royal Academy in Piccadilly over to Big Ben. The show was to draw attention to the "Light Fantastic" exhibit of holography at the Academy.

The other end of the beam. I think I got confirmation from Wiggy via a mutual friend on facebook who quoted his response: 'Couldn’t be me guv. We only lit our fags from the spectra 921 on the roof of the Boddleum, bum, bum society, using invisible safety glasses and asbestos masks'.

Need to get Dan Briggs to post in this thread... He was involved in a project that had a crazy-bright green laser beam blasting over the city a few years ago, and I'm sure he's still got pictures from that event.

    Laser Warning

This must have been the last thing this guy ever saw. Hes staring directly into the reflective apex of the beam.

... not this high energy-density in the reflection -- the camera highly "overdoes" the beams for contrast and exposure time

Is there any info remaining about what the lasing medium was or the power of the laser?
Would be super curious to know.

I imagine that conversation going something like this:

What was the power of the beam?

    YES.

    Seriously, how many watts?

    All of them.
