The issue now is I am in need of a few new laptops but I dont want anything to do with vista, which everything is now bundled with- time to hit ebay-

I can get you deals on used IBM thinkpads. They come with XP and a short warranty.

Is this what "thread hijacking" means???

Ha! No, not trying to bait you into a trade. My days of using gas tubes is long over. Heck even my last remaining 60X head stopped working at SELEM. If I let it sit for about a month it will work great again...

well then, what was with the big soapbox speech in the other thread about my hording activities- followed by a plea to give back to the community and putting a lexel in your hands? hmmmm? hows that 10 watt blue dpss comming?

Just yankin your chains. Though I think that beam quality from gas tubes are still better than solid state, I just don't miss the utilities required for them. I also don't miss the sound of a coherent i-90 passbank blowing!

i still use the 90's - they make that big thunk sound after cathode warmup
prior to lighting the tube-
