All software has a learning curve usually proportional to its capabilities and unique features. Pointing with a mouse is in no way easier than tapping a key.

You beat me to it. I love the Flopp-o-tron! So many good songs adapted!

    That made my day.

Brings a tear to my eye of using an "out" and peek and poke commands to flip a relay coil musically in my first computer.

Making BAD racket using the tape relay, got me a copy of this from the parental units. Leo Christopherson is/ was a genius.

    Dancing Demon was programmable.

First time I ever saw microprocessor music was a tour of Dad's job, where a 8080 was banging out When the Saints Go Marching it.

Still neither holds a candle to that C64 in the video.

When I was in high school around 1981 or so, we had a computer lab with three Apple ][s .

I was deep into software trading back then, and we had a program called HOT APPLES that made the floppy drive simulate (some sort of) sex.

As a teenage boy, this was phenomenally hilarious.

I'm sure I have it here somewhere on a 5.25" floppy. Not that (a) anything can read it these days (other than an Apple ][), and (2) if the magnetic image is intact.

When I was a senior in high school, in 82 83 I (and dchammonds on this forum) were the only people in the whole school system (including teachers and administrators) who actually owned a computer. I brought my ZX81 into physics class and demonstrated it. I was asked to be the student who would help them decide what computer to buy for the school for the year after I would graduate. It was an Apple IIe.

... around this time too, I was starting with "serious" programming (after some time gaming) with my Commodore computers (VC20 with datasette, C-64 with floppy, "parallelized" per user-port-cable and modified firmwares) ... and my old school had still a monochrome Commodore PET for computer class

I had a datasette for my Commodore back in the day, but a floppy drive was way beyond my budget back then.

The ZX81 allowed you to use any old cheap cassette recorder for data storage.

... if someone is still (or again) interested in such "vintage" computers like a C-64 -- there are some recent projects around the user-port with cartridges/modules containing more than enough flash-RAM, SSD, I/O's, USB- or WLAN-connection or other more "modern" stuff
