I'm quite certain the last time I heard Gimme Dat Ding was on KEEL AM radio in Shreveport, LA or KLIF AM in Dallas, TX in 1970. Hadn't remembered or heard of it until your post, so it was a nice time warp surprise for sure.

Here's another one from the late '69 or early '70 from Marmalade that I remember as very popular. One of the earliest video raster modulation effects no doubt and a precursor to similar laser vector modulation effects.

OK, here's a couple of tunes I remember hearing as a kid while riding the rides at Cedar Point.

Wow! +1 for Free Ride! Haven't heard that in ages, but it's such a great jam.

Here's a classic from The Guess Who (aka, Randy Bachman before he formed BTO):

Free Ride was a great one indeed.

When I was a kid growing up, this was a huge hit (sort of).

It's very interesting to me that you made this comment.

Because it was back in the late 70's (I could not tell you the exact year) that my older brother and his friends and I went to see Laserium at the WHYY studio theater in Philadelphia (It was "IMAX" sized before IMAX existed).

I was probably 12 or 13 and was completely blown away by the visuals. I distinctly remember one of the tracks at that show being "In-a-gadda-da-vida" and IIRC it was mostly (or all) just a green laser at that time with lots of diffraction gratings.

I can nearly fully attribute this one show to my love of lasers today.

After that show, the Laserium in Phila moved to the Fels Planetarium at the Franklin Institute, where I saw every freaking laser show I could afford.

And if I had any skilz whatsoever to do laser shows, I'd try to recreate that show.

In-a-Gadda-da-Vida, was a great mention by The Hermit and had a drum solo that I was crazy over and loved...still do!

Speaking of Guess Who, they were just in Cleveland area a few days ago- I thought they were long dead.

Here's one that just screams of an awesome 60's sound:

The 10cc single "I'm Not In Love" might deserve a mention from the 70's. The many vocal harmony notes independently recorded into tape loops in and of itself was well done.

Laserium did an abstract number to this back in the day. I mentioned to Carl Hanagan that I liked it, and he said you really are a masochist. Oh well, it's not the first time my musical taste has been derided.
