Unhappy I hate it when the pessimists get to say, "I told ya"...

Well, it's been a little over 7 months since I started supporting Seb's development of Liberation, and there's still no projected release date for the Windows Beta version yet. I don't know how many other people were supporting the Windows version, but I'm guessing it was a very small number.

I've decided to withdraw my support for now. I told Seb I would support Liberation through the end of 2023, and I did, but I'm not willing to continue paying $40 per month for something I still can't use, and may never be able to use.

For the Mac users, I'm sure this has been an interesting experiment in crowd-funded software development, and I encourage that crowd to continue supporting Liberation, as it does appear to be quite a capable product.

But for Windows users like me, it's just a disappointment, so I've decided to cut my losses.

Hi Adam. Seb released a beta of the Windows version during today's Patron meeting. I would suggest reaching out to him and letting him know you were a Patreon backer if you would like to test it out and receive a discount for the new subscription model (through the website rather than Patreon).

    How's the project going?
    Any significant breakthroughs?

Seb still attends the UKLEM each year, and in March of this year he showed off the latest version of Liberation. There is a Windows version available now, and from what I saw at the UKLEM, it appears to have all of the same features that the Mac version has. Someone (not sure who) noticed a bug in the Windows version that made some of the interface controls very small if you launched Liberation with a non-standard screen resolution, but Seb said that he already had a patch for that issue that was ready to be released. (He just didn't have time to put it out before he had to leave for UKLEM.)

At SELEM last month, Dustin Derry was running Liberation and showing off even more new features. We were goofing around in the auditorium side one afternoon, and Dustin was absolutely killing it with some live busking using Liberation. He really likes the software. Newlin Parker has also done some work with Liberation, and his comments about the software's feature set were also very positive.

I know that several folks in the UK have been using Liberation for commercial shows for some time now, and Dustin said that there are people here in the USA (including himself) who using it for professional work as well. Based on the comments of others, I guess the software is to the point where it's ready for prime time now, but I haven't made the time to take another serious look at it for myself.
