Default It's been too long, Retardo!

Damned if I can't find the original thread to bump. Some of the newer folks here have probably never experienced the true magic of Retardo. Revel in the majesty and forever be in awe! For the older folks at PL, bathe in the hilarious nostalgia!

Not to knock folks too terribly, but as a parent, I suggest folks retire use of this term.

Respectfully, censorship is never a good thing and gives words far more power than they should have. The reason this word has more power now than ever is because the bleeding hearts gave it that power. Besides, we're talking about an emoji, not a person.

And how people respond to words said also speaks volumes. Not to sound like an old fart, but whatever happened to 'Sticks and Stones...'? Kids aren't taught that anymore and now we're left with a giant pandemic of diaper rash.

As long as people say and do stupid things (me included) ...

    God Save Retardo!!!

No problem, glad to help! I love that video and watch it every now and then when I need a smile.

While I find that recording of Thus Spake Zarathustra funny, it's a little more difficult for me to laugh at it because of the reason why it is so bad. The reason being, the whole album that it's on was an experiment. Look up the Portsmouth Sinfonia for more details. I am more fascinated by it than finding it funny. Therefore, I need that video every now and then to watch Retardo rise to his anthem!

And this I totally agree with. Almost anything can be done maliciously and we always have more words. Intent is everything. When lighthearted, such as a silly emoji that's used on a forum, I don't care that it is named Retardo. It's important not to fear words. It's more important to fear hate.

    Well said.
We can still use the image, though, right? Just call it Captain Asterix or something.*

Default Bad music played well...sounds more like this

I grew up listening to this and Guckenheimer's other albums, parents were musical, remember laughing my ass off. It still funny as hell to me.

    I apparently missed the whole Retardo thing...whenever it happened...probably a something-or-another.
