I am in, can't wait to see you all and jam! Since I have real time in my day to work on lasers now, maybe I can finally scramble together some things that have languised in my stretch goals list for the past couple years...It's been too long since we've had graphics on an ion!!

I have some cool new beam stuff to bring in my beyond as well. If I can't be as cool as all you liberation beta testers users, I will have to settle for some gross abuses of Beyond's internals instead hopefully the results can speak for why I have been so set in my ways!

Will pay and stuff, shirt is a Polo XL.

I have an event (Otakon in DC) the weekend coming into SELEM so chances are I won't be able to make it on setup Sunday to hang like last year. TBD. Not sure what day(s) I will come, or work remote some days part of the day or what.

I will try to figure out what pinball machine to bring. Junkyard is on my list to buy but not sure if timing is right. Have a lead on another title as well that needs work so maybe that one would come if I buy it before event.

Hotel wise last time I ended up at the Holiday Inn because the cool kid hotel was full, but I swear yawll was bitchin' about the Embassy Suites last year!? As someone shut out of housing market cause prices are stupid I can't morally support AirBnBs given they help distort the market (though only like .7% of housing is tied up in STRs.)

I am actually starting to play with Beyond show creation. I was trying to figure out how to DJ songs with video and timecoded lasers. Had to give up on Rekordbox and instead will play the media in Beyond driving lasers, with the video component being scraped by NDI tools to send the Beyond video media window to Resolume Avenue over NDI. Then Avenue scales the video to send to LED video wall. All overhead beam type "stabs" and such but learning experience. What you all messing with?

I had no complaints at all about the ES! Desk service was just OK, nothing to write home about, but I had a quiet room on the end/corner. Breakfast was good, too. I just found it kinda expensive for what it is, which is why I was looking into the AirBNB alternatives. Hope you don't hold that against me. But so far, no takers, so I'll probably end up at the ES anyway like last year.

You'll have to just wait for SELEM for the demo. Unless I get it working before then and I just can't keep it to myself.

Hey guys - I finally updated the sign-up thread with everyone who has registered so far. (Sorry for being so late - was traveling for work and the hotel I was in had terrible WiFi; couldn't even get email to work reliably!)

Ethan, if you can bring a pinball machine again this year, that would be *GREAT*! Lots of people commented on how much fun it was last year.

Wil: There's a guy who works for my company who likes to DJ in his spare time, and I might be able to convince him to come this year. Last year you mentioned something about reaching out to some of your DJ pals to see if they might want to come to SELEM and spin for us in the club. If that's still in the cards, then let's talk about that. Want to see what we'll need in terms of equipment... (If we have multiple DJs, we may not need everyone to bring their own gear. After all, how many CDJs can one guy use, right?)

Regarding show creation and/or workspace modification in Beyond, is this something we might want to block out a specific time slot for? Doesn't have to be a full blown presentation or anything (unless you want to), but I think several people would be interested in this...

+1000 to the return of pinball, that was such a dope addition! Maybe one year we can get the rest of the uninitiated all addicted to Jubeat too

Be careful which DJs you ask that question around....Sasha & Digweed at Echostage used a banquet table spread of 10 CDJs + 2 mixers!

I will continue working on a few of my DJ friends once we get through the big show we're doing next weekend and have room in our brains for other events' logistics again. I have quite a few who have wanted to come to SELEM for some time, but organizing time off has been a bit of a struggle. We have a couple sets of CDJs + nexus mixers among us, a couple of the XDJ "all in ones" that are basically two pioneer players + a mixer in one standalone unit, and a few traktor setups...I should definitely be able to wrangle at least one complete backline (and hopefully at least a few more people to play on it too!)

Either ecosystem is fairly approachable for analyzing tracks on the spot, if we have any source music that hasn't been indexed yet. Also all of those options would have balanced audio outputs for the master out, so it should be easy to plug into your normal house mixer. Absolute worst case I have a pretty basic traktor S4 controller and could set aside one of my machines to attach it to.

This would be awesome! I am pretty cluelessly inexperienced about the whole timeline side of beyond and would love to learn about it from all of you who have dug into it in any way. Plus it's always better when you can bask in your output on way too many projectors!

If there's interest and we're talking beyond in general, I would also be totally down to share anything I've learned that could be useful to any of you all. Recently I've spent a lot of time abusing the live control and live FX internals; automation with pangoscript, universe, and events; projector color calibration; and way too much MIDI.

Maybe I will feel brave enough to upgrade to 5.5 before SELEM...

I'm sad I won't be able to attend this year, but I will try to come in 2025. If anyone wants to build a virtual presence robot, I would happily attend virtually.

Hopefully another Liberation user can show off the project's progress, especially now with Windows support. It was a big hit at DutchLEM even with only 3 projectors.

Friendly reminder that your S4 is a mk1 with very outdated driver support. Any Traktor DJ who is bringing prepared content will need to export their preplist onto your machine because most likely theirs will not support the S4 mk1 drivers. I'm not sure if it supports Win11, but I know the OSX cutoff is High Sierra. Traktor doesn't usually need much compute power, but a solid SSD will make a huge difference for analyzing tracks on-demand. Let me know if you need the legacy driver since it's behind a registration portal.

Hoping to make it this year but at this point I'm going to give it a 10% of making it. I was not able to work much over the past year and a half due to an injury so my budget is tight. :/ Anyone happen to be driving through Richmond on their way? looking at my options to get there as I no longer trust my car for journeys longer than 30 miles LOL long story.
Alternatively maybe greyhound or Amtrak If someone wants to pick me up at the station.

Are there any cheap hotels nearby and is anyone interested in splitting a room?

I have asked for that for years and no one has done it so If I make it it this year Ill for sure set up a live portal Via one of the discord groups.

    See my post here: https://photonlexicon.com/forums/sho...600#post364600

Here are other hotels in the area, but I don't recommend booking through a third-party site -- always best to book directly at the hotel's official website. https://www.priceline.com/relax/in/3...840f2e5436048c

Although I already booked a room at the Embassy Suites (cancellable) since nobody seems interested in the AirBNB option.

Hank, I thought a couple folks from the recent PL Zoom call were interested in the Air BnB option that you found? Did that not work out?

Honestly, it's really a great deal. If you had all 4 rooms booked, it ends up being cheaper than any of the local hotels, and you've got the entire house (including a full kitchen) to work with. I'm shocked that more people didn't jump on this. (If I wasn't already staying with Brad, I'd definitely do an Air BnB instead of getting a room at a hotel!)

Do you know if that place is still available? If it is, it might be worth making a couple phone calls to the folks who have already registered, just to see if they're interested. (Traffic here on the forum has fallen off quite a bit, so it's possible that some of the SELEM regulars haven't read about the place you found...)
