I agree with you there, Dave. (Except over here it's not the weekend yet, and besides, I've got to work this weekend ...)

Talking about a long week though...

We celebrate "Labor Day" the first Monday in September. It's a national holiday, so just about everyone has the day off. Great day to sit on the back porch, fire up the BBQ grill, cook some steaks while you enjoy a few beers, that sort of thing...

Instead, I was on my back underneath my son's car trying to pull the oil pan off so I could get at the rod caps on the crankshaft. (This is the car that he ran out of oil that has now developed a serious knock in the engine.) After skinning my knuckles countless times trying to take apart all the crap that was in the way, I finally got the damn oil pan off and managed to replace the connecting rod bearings. To noone's surprise, two of them were wiped. But the crank looked good, so I had high hopes.

Nope... No such luck. After I put everything together and filled it with oil, I cranked it up only to discover that the knock was still there.

Fuck... I just wasted my day off.

Not a good way to start the week, and it's been downhill from there.

But hey, I'm off today, and it's 11:35, which is close to noon, which means I'm going to have a beer and say "Fuck it!".

Sorry for your loss (of the day-off)

The weekend is for pottering in the garden, watching films and the occasional play with our lasers.
