running an FB3QS with Livepro

Hey guys,
Apologies if already posted.
I used to have an older FB3SE with my licence for Livepro. However, it was stolen many moons ago .
I’ve been using a newer FB3QS with Quickshow, but i still miss livepro, as that’s what i learned on.
Pangolin say that the FB3QS won’t run with Livepro, and it was end of life over 10 years ago.
Does anyone know if it would be possible?

That's interesting. I assumed that the newer FB3QS hardware was was more or less the same as the original FB3SE unit, with the only difference being that the newer units were smaller due to some component miniaturization and the removal of the DMX output and compact-flash memory card reader. But it's possible that they did make some other changes to the board in the QS version that makes it unable to be used with LivePro.

I don't remember exactly when LivePro was depreciated, but I'm sure it was quite some time ago. I suspect that your only option for running LivePro now would be to find a used QM2000 that came with a LivePro license. (These pop up on Ebay from time to time.) It's also possible you might find an original FB3SE that also had a LivePro license, but I think this would be a rare find.

I don't believe you can purchase a new LivePro license from Pangolin anymore, even if you had the hardware to run it.

I understand your reluctance to give up LivePro. I used to use it as well (with the QM2000), and it's very good at what it does.

Nostalgia notwithstanding, I do believe that Beyond trumps LivePro, however.

I still use LivePRO with both an FB3SE and FB3QS. The licence is tied to the FB3SE and FB3QS is used as a second output.

Just before Pangolin dropped LivePRO one of the updates was to make in compatible with FB3QS DAC's.

I am running the last release of LivePRO 5.50.725.2024. Just make sure that the firmware of the FB3QS is at least 7.25 but it's most likely as 7.35 like mine.

I'm sure that Pangolin are still capable of providing licences for LivePRO but you may have to pester them for it.
