Dichro help
Hey guys, I have been dabbling a bit into more of the esoteric wavelengths; 561nm, 570ish, 593nm. As it comes to dicrhos I'll be honest here, I haven't really checked any of mine to test with the 570nm module. I would like to add it to an RGB module. It would be great to just have the yellow pass through all three RGB dichros and then I wouldn't have to worry about it but I don't know how the upper end of the green or lower end of the red will work with that wavelength. For context, I'm using the reflect-green, reflect-red dichro "kit" from the casio projectors that DTR was selling,, along with a random few blue dichros. I'm just not sure how narrow the band is on those RG optics.
I don't want to have to PBS multiple lasers to skirt around wider band dichros. I want to try to keep the optical train simple. FYI, this has a specific application requiring a small size. I have an old LaserFX "light show" that was bought from Spencer Gifts back in the 80s/90s that has a non working, obsolete halogen bulb. I nixed the halogen mount, color wheel, and focusing lens and want to replace it with a mini RGBY laser engine to bring that light back to life with actual lasers. Since it has to be small and I don't really want to cram xy kinematics in, I don't want to battle to get the green and red lined up perfectly to make yellow. Since these old lights only had four solid colors, as long as the RGBY beams are close to alignment, that will be good enough since only one color will be active at a time, again, trying to keep the spirit of it close to stock.
So with all of that out of the way, where is a good source for dichros that have a fairly narrow band that won't break the bank specifically in the red or green region that will pass "yellow"? I know Edmund has a lot of options but, even though their prices seems to be a bit more moderate than they used to be, they are still a bit higher. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks, guys!
