Default Is the LaserABC laser projector illegal in the USA?

Im interested in the LaserABC because of its low price. However, I have heard that its not legal to sell to the USA. The seller claims that its legal to sell because a variance is not required for private use. Is this true or is the laserabc not legal in the USA?

    That's the Kickstarter one, right?

Nope, you can't get a variance for them. If you could, they'd scream it.

While it's true that it's completely legal to possess and use in a private setting at home, the moment you do something that you want to show in public, it becomes illegal in the USA.

I checked their pricing, and for the same price you can get a better laser from China. Better scanners, more wattage, and off the shelf parts in case things need repair. Granted, the Chinese ones won't be legal either, but the LaserABC offerings aren't anything to write home about. Ask around here about Opt, Goldenstar, or my latest favorite, TMax. Those companies have been at it for years and offer similarly priced units.

As a side note, If you want to go legal for public use, Laserworld has a new line that is fully legal in the USA. I had one - with a variance. The brand name is Nova, and they're sold by a company in Austin, TX called MotionLasers. I picked up a 3 watt with pelican case for about $1400. I liked it. Color was good. The scanners were a little "lazy", though. Projecting the same image like the alignment grid, the Laserworld's edges were rounded off on the corners. But, at the exact same scan rate, my Opt, Tmax, and even the shitty Shehds I had (DO NOT BUY THAT BRAND) were all crisp. Every Laserworld projector I've owned had similarly rounded edges. I don't know why. But they're OK for the price. In general, I liked the Nova when I had it.
