400mw - Smokin'

Wow. Just got my first 400mw+ laser.

Thankfully I had the foresight to :

(a) put my goggles on
(b) use the box as a target.

The box now has a lovely big scorch mark on it...


I'm impressed.

Jian tells me that the galvo mirrors can easily accomodate a 5W laser, well... he should know.

Hey, congrats dude. At what wavelength? Where did you get it from? For how much? Sadly, I have to stick with my 100mW green for the time being until my pocket allows .

It's a 532 with TTL blanking - says "Made in the USA" on the power supply. Last test gave 432mw. Just finished installing it in my scanner.

Got it from a guy in Florida over Ebay - it cost $600 inclusive shipping.

It replaces my 80mw that I paid about $600 a few years back. Going to take it outside and take some pictures tonight - will post them later.

It was a perfectly clear cold night last night. Not good for laser beam shows at all... or taking pictures.

Where did all the humidity go??

I'll crank it up in the basement tonight and take some...
