Default wiring up duel red to modlation

hi, im sure ive asked this before somewhere??? cant remember

i have two reds, both running on robins drivers (die4laser)

do i just connect the two + to the + on the DAC and the two - to the - on the dac.

if i had say 5 reds how would i wire that up??

    thanks

    Hi Andy,

You mean you want to connect 2 drivers to the DAC in order to run 2 diodes?
The driver is set up to accept a 0 to 5V input signal.
Connect the DAC 0V to the GND pad on both drivers.
Connect the DAC Red O/P to the DRV pad on both drivers.

The input impedance of the driver is governed by the POT R1.
If R1 is 10k and you are driving 2 boards the DAC will have to supply 5V into 5k.
If you parallel up many drivers you can get into a situation where the load resistance presented to the DAC is too low. In this case you will need to buffer the output from the DAC.

    Best regards,
    Robin

thanks Robin, but most of that went over my head!!! LOL

yes i want to run a duel red lasers for 400mw odd.

for two reds am i ok just to connect them both to the TTL on the dac??

if i wanted more reds, where can i get the correct buffer?

Yes, you should be fine connecting both to the TTL on the DAC.
Depending on the spec of the DAC you should be able to run several drivers from the same output.

If the R1 pot is 10k (marked 103) you should be able to run 10 drivers or so from the same output

I don't know if there is an off the shelf board you can buy.
You basically need a high output current op-amp arranged as a unity gain buffer.
