Also whilst on the subject of conectivity

when using a network cable as the link between computer and control as in the .net system, using cheap network cable can cause failures due to the fragile nature of the cable especialy if its solid core,

expensive network cable is ..... well Damn expensive

a more robust and cost efffective solution would be to use a standard 100m Mains extention lead plugged into the same outlet as the computer

then run the ethernet over the mains to the projector using this

    Hi Guys,

i checked a several methodes for USB over Lan.
The pictures, from the Site 2 Shows only an USB Extender. Its not Network, it uses only the Ethernetcable.

The extender coats about 40$ in eBay and they work just "ok". You can build a connection up to 50m. But sometimes the Connection stucks and you must restart your DAC and software. I tryed it in some Clubs.

The better way is the "usb over Network" Software. It runs perfect in a 100mbit cable Network. I checked it also with wireless lan and 2 Laptops, but the output was bucking.

I found another solution that sounds great for me. A all in one Hardware way -> Ethernet -> USB. You need the Ubox2100 and a TCP/IP Network. (Coasts 150$)
The PC emulates a Driver for your device in your Systemmanager, so it`s like the Hardware is conected directly to the pc.
The Ubox is so small, that you can put it directly in your laserprojector.

    Best wishes,
    Björn

if i understand the Gefen product right, it won`t emulate the device. Its only Printserver, storage and so on.

from what i understand ... its definately not just a print server

    the spec says

Extends any USB device up to 100 feet away from the USB source
The Gefen Wireless USB 2.0 Sender unit is connected to the computer or USB source.
The USB 2.0 peripherals are connected to the Wireless USB 2.0 Receiver unit is connected to the extended USB 2.0 peripherals. A wireless 802.11 type connection is used to link the sender to the receiver
these devices have only been out a short while and from what i have read, you can connect any usb device that you would normaly connect localy, basicly its just like an invisible USB cable

now i have not tested this personaly so no garrantees that it does what is says on the box

if you are refering to the extenders like the ones I have then no....

As I explained to Andy the extenders wont work on wireless as they are not networkind devices just a means of boosting a USB signal and sending it along a wire that just happens to be the same wire used for network connectivity. You can only send a network signal via a wireless network.
