Just an update, it's producing 457mW with a 5.02V input! I'll do testing on the wavelength and modulation speed tonight!

Thats one mighty pair of lasers dude. I might have to get me some of those. What are you using to measure the power?

I'm using a Newport 835 with a 818 detector and a OD3 ND filter. It's accurate to within 1% which is pretty good for me. It can also do 2W max. For measuring output spectrum, I use an OceanOptics USB4000 Spectrometer.

I have a nice scorch on my door now. For a beamstop I think I'll use a black power coated aluminum plate I'll just mount it on my door at approx desk hight.

    excellent!

speaking of scorching stuff, reminds me of the shutter in the laser where I used to work. 6W Spectra Physics argon tube with 2x G120 scan heads and an old skool Magnum controller (no blanking). Had a solenoid with a black rubber stopper on the end as a beam shutter. Now that used to smoke if you popped it in for too long!

We get these kind of questions and reports all the time

    "Dear maxyzmodules,

Will this unit light matches, cut rubber, pop balloons, engrave wood, etc.?"

    Later on:

    "Wow, I guess it does...thanks"

Anyhow, You should see my couch..
its black and it has seen many tests of lasers as it convieniently located in the test direction..
now it has the "inevitable pinhole burns" look to it.
I worry I'm gunna burn the house down someday!!!
    Gotta be more careful

Glad its working out for you Ben

    i looove my red..
And I`m ready to order one more pair of dual really soon
