Hi,
is it possible (of course without harm the tube) to use an filament transformer without the centertap?
I ordered a custom made transformer but these guys forget the centertap is this one useless now?

Yes, you can use it without the center tap.

The center tap is used to connect the cathode psu connection to... I would have thought the transformer is a bit useless now...

You will imbalence the arc on the cathode if you do not have the center tap, this causes one side of the cathode to do all the emission and take all the current, this results in A FAST EARLY FAILURE of the TUBE. That little 1.5V difference moves the plasma to one feedpoint of the cathode, and that is BAD.

ok, so will try to add the centertap by myself if it fails i order a new one.
