    Default Pangolin-

    OK-

obviously pangolin is by the far the best software out there for laser control. BUT, and heres the big BUT-
Is it good for live performances? I know there is a new "live pro" add in or something, but thats a lot more money am i correct??

a good intro pangolin system, will it be sufficient for doing say, a nightclub? i do A LOT of nightclubs! (1-2/week) on top of my other corporate type shows. I have just about had it with Full Auto, and i think its time for me to go with pangolin.
is it good "out of the box" for live performances? is it relatively easy to learn? (for more basic type shows) i am not at the caliper yet of doing 10 laser system shows at london bridge!
any inside info and expertiese would be appreciated!

Sounds like you should have a look over LivePRO. The sheer power of the software is great.

It has a huge number of features, but you don't need to learn them all to get cracking.

Are you alwasy doing the same clubs? I got the intro kit... 6 or so months ago and only wish I had more $ to upgrade. There are... many included shows, about 50/50 beams and graphics, and a LOT of frames. There is a "live" setting in Showtime, but I haven't played with it enough to give any opinion. I'm still watching the included shows. I think if you already do shows you will pick up on the included software very easily.

    Hi,

maybe you could take look at Fiesta! 2 software. It is good for live performances(disco, party, concerts, theatre), but you can also make shows for music. And it's really easy to learn - you can try it for free - download demo version at www.showtacle.com/Fiesta.php.

Sounds like you are asking the constant question that is always on my head. The answer is live pro but its still been hard for me to justify the cost and extra time to learn it. On top of that, I still think I can create a show of 60 scenes from scratch and hot key them 20 times faster in full auto auto than I could pangolin. Right now I can do this in about 1 hour from complete scratch and in about 15 mins using predone scenes. This is fully aimed in

I am sure my thoughts will be changed when I go down to florida and have hayden show me around live pro

    GLL, DreamBeamz;

It's too bad you guys couldn't come to Orlando on the 20th of October... Hayden Hale from Pangolin will be doing a tutorial on how to use Showtime Live. (Note: this isn't Live Pro. Showtime Live comes with every version of the QM-2000, including the intro board.)

Showtime Live has plenty of features on it's own. It's a very nice player. Unfortunately, none of the guys that have been going to FLEM or SELEM were very familiar with it, so we never really got to see how great it is. Hayden has used it quite a bit though, so he agreed to do a demo for us.

Early next year (late February sometime) we're going to have ANOTHER meeting in Orlando. (That will be FLEM Mark II) I'm hoping that Bill Benner will be able to attend that one. If he does make it, I'm going to ask him to do a tutorial on Live Pro. That way people that got to see how Showtime Live works at FLEM 1.5 will be able to compare the functionality to Live Pro.

I've heard nothing but good things about Live Pro. However, even Bill admitted that Showtime Live is a very capable live player. (Don't forget that you can also download a copy of the LA Studio software, which includes the Showrider Live player. So that's two different players you can experiment with.) So even though Live Pro is the cat's meow, you may be perfectly satisfied with Showtime Live.

I've used Full Auto, and I know how easy it is to do a quick setup with it. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience with Showtime Live, so I don't know how the setup speed compares. (The global settings are just as easy - actually, I think they're better with Pangolin - but I don't know about the individual frame settings.)

Stay tuned for details after FLEM 1.5...

I'm gradually being drawn away from my beloved PM22 and PM20 by the addition of a touch screen to my LA freak package!

It is the missing link for live control!
