My kit came in today - looks like it includes pretty much everything I'll need to a get a working blue-ray laser built.

    Thanks, drlava!

I'll post pics when I get a chance to start building - I hope to come up with a creative way to combine it with some 5mw HeNe tubes I have in the shop...

Question is who is going to make the first 20 mw white light with these? I have thought it very doable. No modulation....just a very pretty white laser beam.

We'll i've got nothing (in respect to the tube you mention Dr. Lava), except for an awesome package... of some 405nm lasers! But... I've been drinking heavily and I know it would be a bad time to dissect them so I wait for another day! I hope to see some awesome creations by tomorrow morning! (Assuming someone didn't celebrate too much!)

    G'nite all!

it's a VHF transmitter tube with uranium glass seals.

Here's a quick and dirty portable 'elly' mod for presentations:

Really, In all my years in television broadcast , I've never seen a glass tube used except in very low level output stages.
Most are always external anode forced air or water cooled.

This must be from an Low VHF FM xmtr or MOPA from the very early (1930's ?) attempt at making power.
The inner triode looks very similar to a 250th (BC-610 transmitter) or maybe a 4-400
Maybe its an old soviet tube...

Still would make a great lookin lamp !!!

Maybe you could elaborate on where you got it or more info on it...

    Cool Tube man

I picked it up (along with some forced air external anode tubes that you refer to) at a garage sale from a ham.

The glowing uranium looks really cool! If you guys want some Uranium Ore to make your 405nm laser that much cooler check out this site http://www.unitednuclear.com/fluorescent.htm

It's been 4 years since my last electronics engineering class. When I received my driver parts I realized how little I retained; like the 9 years of Spanish I took. I am going to try to stumble through this assembly, but any help thrown my way would be really appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Max

the heatsink for the regulator isn't necessary for the violet lasers up to a power supply of 12V.

As these are received and built, hopefully others will post their less cramped examples
