Default Time to build another projector :)

All these Pics from FLEM 1.5 has inspired me to build another RGB projector. It's going on a 22" x 24" sheet of 1/4" aluminum mounted on 3/4" particle board. I'm using a ILT 5500A doing 350mW for the Blue, Cyan, Green and Violet lines modulated by a 4Ch. NEOS PCAOM and a Marconi MaXYZ 658nm red doing 170mW. I will most likely need more red power for this project. I'm going to use Cambridge 6800's with a TurboTrack 2 LSDI Driver. Here's what it looks like so far.

P.S. No fog in the laser on pic, just dust in the air.

The next step is to mount the 12" x 24" x 1" breadboard next to the ILT. Just about all the optics will be mounted on it including the MaXYZ red laser.

    Cool

    Hi Mark!

Sounds like an ambitious project! Keep us informed of your progress. I'm assuming you've got a bragg mount for your PCAOM, right? That would be a good thing to talk about when you get ready - not a lot of folks here using PCAOM's...

    Hello All,

Here's a pic of the 12" x 24" Thor Labs Breadboard attached to the baseplate. I put the MaXYZ Red next to the ILT just to show size. The next step is to figure out the best way to attach the sides of the case
to the baseplate. I also need to come up with a beam path that will work
for both scanners and diffraction effects.

    Hi

I'm always seeing decent breadboards come up for sale in the USA, from very small ones to extremely large ones, none of them seem to go for a great amount of money.

The problem is the shipping costs to get them to the UK. They are VERY heavy. I've looked into this on many occasions but it is just not cost effective to import them.

I recently picked a surplus one up in the UK, very similar to the one in the picture, mine is 24" x 12", I paid £75 for it. I suggest you do what I do and keep your eyes on Ebay.

I'm still trying to find a 4' or 5' x 3' x 2" breadboard for my holography table, either aluminium or magnetic stainless. If anyone knows where there may be one at a decent price in the UK i'm interested.

    Cheers

    Jem

Yep, they are quite heavy. Last week they delivered a 25'x12'x18" board at work. It was 8 big buff guys carrying it up the stairs. I would guess that the honeycomb ones are much lighter, but still not as light as they should be! I'd be interesting to see what you could get out of UHMWPE.

    Hey Laser Lips,

I found this one on Ebay a few years ago and got it for like $90.00 + shipping.
They had another one just like it and I turned it down like a dummy.
