Default what is the 'intensity' channel for?

We've all seen the intensity signal on the ilda connector specification but what is it exactly for? What had the designers in mind for this signal?

Right now I'm just using RGB signals, and leave the 'i' signal alone (0).
Is anyone using this signal in their projectors?

Hi Zoof, intensity is used when you have a single color projector. Instead of connecting your single color projector to either R G or B, you just attach it to intensity, that way if any color is on, intensity is on so you have no color gaps in the displayed image.
