So it wasnt only me that noticed the inadequacey of them specs. Maybe he was more concerned about the thing blowing up and him loosing his sight by shrapnel.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

If the same bloke wearing the glasses took this picture of the 80watt beam:

they are probably just very thick reading glasses

I noticed that too and thought it was strange..
Also noted the "spagetti wiring" and the coils on the water lines.

That lab has done more for CVL then you might realize, that is where Spektronika came out of, and their other Bulgarian competitor.

Although, damn, I thought my home vacuum station was crude.....

Do note the world standard brown beer bottle in the background, with the ring of plumbing tef tape around its neck, some things are laser lab standards !

As for the googles, they are for shrapnel, the thyratons pumping those babys run at 10-15 khz or more, at several tens of kilowatts per pulse.
at those frequencies and powers ceramic cap shards are deadly missiles. Wonder if they are modern enough to use ceramic, instead of asbestos, wool in those pics?

Wohoo, I'd gladly change jobs with him for a few days, although I think somehow he'd find the nanofiber and interferometric patterning labs very booring....

want some CVL plans, head for this one
