Dacs such as Norms and the one I built for Mamba when I first got it use the parallel port to output the data and the DAC has the ilda connector on it. The dongle is a security device that plugs into the USB and is not relevant to the hardware - just the software.

As for legalities - there is no law specific for using a laser in the UK but you must adhere to health and safety guidelines for lasers and follow general H&S rules when putting on a show. Most of this is about ensuring you are operating in a responsible way taking the safety of your 'audience' as a prime concern.

If you want to learn how to do it - you can do worse tha go on one of the laser visuals safety training courses that run from time to time.

There will be plenty of advice at the meet on Sunday

Ok Rob, Thanks for the information.

I will take a look into one of these courses as safety has to be number one.

Finally got hold of MB, Dongle and Medialas USB DAC at the UKLEM yesterday.
Its on a black CD (which my CD drive had a bit of a problem reading but I managed to copy all the files and ran them from my HD - But not before setting it up from the CD as you would normally but it still wouldn't work!) and it Say's it's the C-2004 1.60i version (which I wish to upgrade to the 1.9 version available now)
Got home and installed it but am having problems with MB running. Firstly when I open MB it gives me a NSCRT.dll error. The dongle is installed and the light is not flashing, it's on constantly and the Feitian ROCKEY4 and Feitian ROCKEY4 USB are both showing in Device manager, and then I get Several access violation warning before it finally opens. If I then go to the Help/About screen it shows no serial number and every time i try and do anything within the program I just get access violations.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jim

Just to add, the 1.90 Demo seems to run fine on my PC, appart from the obvious restrictions

    Thumbs up

    Hi Jim,

First try to install the DLL. Download at http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?nscrt

Then install the newest dongle drivers. Download at http://www.medialas.de/download/Mamb...%20archive.zip

Your dongle number must show up than in the About menu.

    Grz,
    Audrey

    Hey Smogthemog,

That jet project is really cool. I never thought of using turbo chargers to build a jet engine but, hey it works.

    Best Regards,

    Mark

    Thanks Mark

    ----------------

I tried what you suggested Audrey, Thanks, but to no avail. Dongle drivers are now all up to date and working so I perhaps don't think the problem is there. NSCRT.dll warning now no longer comes up, after doing as you suggested, when I try and start the program I just get access violation warnings pointing to mamba.exe still whenever I try to do anything. I will take the disk to work with me today and install it on my works PC (could also come in handy during dinner breaks ) and see how that goes. That will eliminate if it is the disk that is at fault as there are a number of scratches on it.

    Thanks

    Jim
