Thumbs down Ouch... Just figured I'd share.

I think I am having a fucking kidney stone... Seems like a small one so far... my fourth since 1999; fifth if you count the time I have one in each kidney the night after my birthday in 2000. My hope is it is something else and if I post about it it wil go away, but it has been getting steadily more painful since 9:30pm EST and it is in that familliar spot. The big glass of wine hasn't helped as much as I had hoped. We have a half dozen or so 5mg diazapam for the dog's neck that I am tempted to grab a couple of here soon. The dog hasn't needed them in 6 months or so and I think they are past their "eat by date".

    Just figured I'd share.
    Love, peace, and grease,

    Cool

Thanks! One my second glass of wine; the more I drink the more pressure I feel, which indicates to me it is a stone... I checked an we only got 3 happy Vs. I'll have to take all three if it gets too bad, but as of right now it is only a sore spot with pressure. Not like my first few... the first one I had made me feel like Jet Lei in Lethal Weapon 4 when Mel Gibson impales him with the rebar through, the Kidney, and then lifts him up. The third time it was on both sides which is an interesting feeling compared on only one side. This just feels like a swift kick in the kidney... with a tennis shoe.

It could be much worse; my unlce, thank God by marriage, is what they call a harvester... or farmer, I forget, but he has multiple stone in each kidney all the time!!! I would have done myslef in a long time ago; I can't imagine how he deals with it. Now my cousin, beautiful young lady of 29 or 30, has started to have them. I give thanks to God and will deal with the occational stone with very little complaint... beyond a small thread here sharing with friends.

Don't know you. But wish you the best of luck with your situation.

No one should have to pass a stone....

Thumbs up Thanks also to you!

The second, rather large, glass of wine seems to have done a lot of good. I don't think the valume will not be needed, at least for now. I may be able to go to bed with a slight ache which is better than a rebar stuck in one side of my back... not that I wasn't looking forward to 15mg of diazapam... I just hope the trip from the bladder is as smooth as the trip through the kidney. I do seem to have a high threshold for pain; for whatever that is worth.

well sir aaron, as soon as you are over with this (which i hope you will as smoothly and painlessly as possible), start drinking lots and lots of water... and if this does not work, you can always sell a kidney and BUY MOAR LASERS!!! you won't miss the kidney, it doesn' t work anyway

ps. sorry for the black humour, but i think, pain, wine and painkillers should have brought you in the right frame of mind by now. get well soon

I'm somewhat of an expert on kidney stones having had over 400 of them. Most passed but have had 14 lithotripsy surgeries.

Suggestion: ask your dr for a PTH blood test. If it even remotely is abnormal see a specialist. Mine ended up being one of my parathroid glands was wacked out. Removed it and so far everything seems fine 2 years later. The 3" scar on my neck is kinda cool too! I tell people it was a bar fight.

Since lithotripsy surgery is nothing more than shock waves that shatter kidney stones, I developed a homebrew solution: tape a M80 to your side, light it and hope for the best. It should work.... Much cheaper than surgery!
