they may not be pencil thin but for big fat static beams they rock like nothing else.
I wouldnt turn one down

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

I think so, so I don't know what the average power would be, but it would still be multi-watt.
Just what I need- another huge-ass hernia inducing piece of equipment-
Thanks anyway -

I have peaked these as high as 66watts, although for sake of the crystal
I don't do it long - 40 watts is about right. You have to know what your looking at though- Alot of the ones hes selling are only 20 watters-
go big or go home
Hey DZ -
yeah, Clan said it - you do have to 'cherry pick' these - that is WHY they are now surplus, and being sold for $5-6K (can go for ~$10-12K as a one-off) - some of these are good for parts-only, (but some of those 'parts' can be worth $1K - $3K!!) but some ARE doing 50+ Watts; some 30-ish, some 40+, but that is what a 'grab bag' like this sale is all about - some 'gems' and some 'rhinestones'!
Most of the 'better' ones, though, you could expect to see ~7-10W+ of CW, and 35-45W+ of Q-Sw like Clan said, SOME of the HP units can do ~16-18W+ of CW (!!!!) and 60-65W+ Q-Sw - damn-right scary power! - worth the effort (in our book, anyway) to do the conversions, for that kind of power, for relatively-little money, IF you need it...

Hey DB - well, I humbly submit this for your consideration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBxRF...eature=related + the pics below...Like Rob said: - well spoke, Sir! and for nice grafix, all you need to do is know WHERE the 'sweetspot' for collimating these babys is (hint- it's NOT where Laserscope puts it) and WHICH lens to use (ie: 400mm vs 200mm acromat) and use them for what they are designed to do (stuff like this clip - LONG distance, BIG spaces) and you can be happy...
PS - before you jump on me about the FAA, well, there AIN'T no FAA in Guatemala! No hay FAA en Gua-tey (but, we DID look around first and made sure it was clear, anyway! I mean, if you shoot down a plane there, forget the FAA - it's the machete-wielding family members ya'd hafta worry about!!
And, Steve - - all ya gotta do is take the useless-for-show-work, 130# monster 1-1 transformer outta-der' butt, and then you will only drop ONE testicle, instead of BOTH - but, really, the thing to do is GUT them and rebuild in a smaller box - then they are nothin but lots and lots of mad green love -
