Default Volkslaser AlphaLase 2012 RGB 1,2 Watt

    hey,

Does anyone have experience with this laser? or with the brand "volkslaser"?
I want to buy it but I can't find any reviews about it.

I want to create smooth beam shows, so I am looking for a high output and fast galvo scanners.

    tnx

They're the low cost line of projectors made by Medialas.

This web page suggests 30K scanners for the 1.2 w model.

    However, the red is 650nm:

    It's not terrible no.

The upside is 650nm are cheap so it keeps the cost of a projector down.

The downside is the beams fat so some red usually gets lost inside the projector and 650 isn't as bright watt for watt as say 640 or 637/8. That said, the latter reds are expensive. So it's horses for courses.

650nm is perfectly fine if budget is an issue.

    Incorrect.
You can have 650nm with a 2mm beam @ 0.6mRad or less with ease.
    - There is no such word as "can't" -
    - 60% of the time it works every time -

But is that fitted as standard on cheap projectors?

Anyway, I stand corrected, it seems it is possible to have a tight 650nm beam. Best way to check is ask for the extended specs of the projector ie beam specs, scanner brand etc and then you can at least see what you're getting for your money.

ok, i asked musicstore for more specs.

I want to use the laser for rooms up to 6x10m, so i think it will be bright enough?

It will be plenty bright enough for a room that size! And potentially quite dangerous at those sorts of ranges. Make sure you know what you are doing with it.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Looking at the video, the projector is pointing down, possibly right at the dance floor and maybe at less than 5 meters, so I'd say no, not in any sized room.

I'm sure others will offer a more informed explanation of why, but from my personal point of view, if you have to ask this question (like me) then you're not qualified to be pointing lasers safely at people!

Keep it to beams and/or graphics above the audience and high enough so that random audience members can't reach the beams or get them in the face when sitting on someone's shoulders...

And make sure you have E-Stops! I've been really glad of them in the past when audience have gotten silly at events I was working on!
If in doubt... Give it a clout?
