The datasheet says "suitalble as light sources for laser display" (!)
Looks like the divergence of the bare diode is 8x23 in a 5.6mm can. Not sure what you'd get with suitable lenses though.
Uh oh, where is steve-o... anyone waved this in front of him?

Cool! I eagerly await your review...

Dude - Steve-o has his hands full right now with all the other gear he's been working on. If he finds out about these new diodes, he'll go broke trying to get his hands on some!
Still, if one could tame that beam (doubtful based on the specs quoted above), it would make for a nice red...

Hi Guys, i was quoted these prices from photonic 3 weeks ago,
HL6385DG 643nm 150mW Opnext laser diode- £185.00 each - delivery approximately 4-6 weeks
HL6378DG 642nm 80mW Opnext laser diode - £149.69 each - delivery approximately 6-8 weeks
DL-5146-152 405nm 35mW Sanyo laser diode/MPD - £643.88 each - delivery approximately 6-8 weeks
as usall you are going to pay the price but combine 2 of them and your gonna get a realitive brightness of approximatley 600mw of 660
Hey, Y'all- I'm gettin' happy with my mitsu's here (post 93)
--and they're 636nM 150mW
Here is the page that Steve-o's post with the info is on:

I wouldn't like to be the first to pop one.Well it did happen Arrrggghhh!at that price if one died - which lets face it is gonna happen.
So maybe that was it, 1 popped one - $295.00. And that was the sacrificial diode to appease the laser gods, so you-all dont have anything to worry about (even tho we're talking about 2 different diodes here)
I'm having pretty good results (beam-how quality, not graphics) using a triple lens setup.
Oh, and these are 636 nM with no cooling required
We're talking multi-mode here, right?
