    Default pulsing diodes

has anybody tried running the DVD diodes at the 240 mW 50% duty cycle 100 nanosecond pulses in the data sheet, is it bright, or does it just default to the 120 mW average power. Ie anybody ran them 100 nanosconds on, 100 nanoseconds off, at ~300 mA?

good question, although I am aware of some euro types who have been making their " arctos type " projectors by pulsing on the order of picoseconds

Yes, I did this a while back but they didn't appear to be any brighter than the typical 120 mW CW mode. You can eek out a bit more average power this way, but it diesn't seem to be very much worth it.
