Lets just hope Arctos plans on using several million non-multimode diodes maybe then we could all benefit

Arctos already do that in pretty sure.

Whats wrong with a 3mm 1.1mrad beam anyway?

Do you say that multimode is 2 blue in one laser (from medialas ?)

I did request price from Medialas 3 days ago..
    Still waiting for answer..

I think I got like 3000$ to spend on new laser toy
But I dont think I want to spend MORE than 3k$ for just 500mW blue..

I have 200mW blue now, and if I upgrade I sure want more than 500mW.

The various longitudinal modes and such of a multi-mode diodes mean much lower coherence. That in turn means horrible beam specs compared to single-mode or DPSS units.

For some reason though I have trouble believing <3.5mm, <1.1mRad. I agree with Dave, if those specs are true it is manageable at least (especially compared to the cost of a 1.2W DPSS!). Is it just me though, or do those specs sound far too good for a multi-mode diode? (even if its two 600mWs combined, that's still far more than red and IR diodes come in single-mode packages so its pretty safe to assume these aren't)

In the lower power Arctos units, I believe the lower power single mode diodes are combined and used, whilst the 25w monster, I believe the higher power multimode diodes such as these are used

Interesting Dave, that would make sense. I still haven't seen an arctos unit close up... and I have only seen one in operation from a far distance.

    Cant wait for that day

A little look inside one of the 25w monsters with 2x green, 12x blue and 48x red laser sources -
