Thanks for the super fast reply guys!!!!

Im still confused on one thing, let me start with my boggle. If we look at the red diodes, what optics are used from the first diode down to the last in a single red diode bank? Im assuming that each diode is collimated into a paralell beam and bounced down to the rectangular mirrior at the bottom.

So does each diode bounce down to one point? Or are they seen as 6 beams / dots side by side on the rectangular mirror at the bottom?

And what type of lens is used to bring all the red together into such a nice beam?

Please dont get too technical in terms used, im still in the early learning stages

each diode is effectively stacked on top of one another

look at the three images here for a clearer understanding.

as for the exact optics Arctos uses, we dont know, but its a collimating lens set.

so yes, 6 beams side by side, not on top of one another.

HEY, 405 has some significant long term exposure hazards!!!!

WE NEED TO ADDRESS THIS !

Thats pretty wild! So to get this to work I see the optics are going to play a big part (no surprise there )

So in lamens terms... Is the idea of the optics to gather say 6 beams which are paralell to each other, shrink it down, expand it then collimate it? 3 Lenses??? Ive played with this a while back with little progress, I kept getting seperate beams! Now i've got a nice collection of lenses from all kinds of old cameras etc, and am going to give it another try.

Thanks for the help, this is the first time seeing that pic from Philip. I've seen other pics of his awesome project, but never on this angle, very explicit
